GEB2D

GEB2D is the Gebor's brand new project in the sphere of software development. The ultimate goal of the project is the implementation of a easy-to-use calculation program for frame structures.

The program is free and can be downloaded from our download section!

The motivation for the creation of this software originates in the wish to develop a platform with lightweight volume, but with sufficient capacity that is to be updated constantly according to the users' needs. Main targets are the achieving of intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) with accent on dividing the single computational stages for greater flexibility and interaction with other software products. This is a non-commercial tool, ideal for academic purposes and as a basis further development.

During the first phase of the project we present to you a beta version of the preprocessing module for the input data of the static system (Preprocessor) with the following features:

  • computed assisted drawing and visualization of the elements (general and beams on elastic foundation)
  • creation of cross-sections to be assigned to the different elements. A database for I-profiles according to Eurocode is available
  • creation of materials to be assigned to the different elements
  • input and visualization of loads and constraints
  • condense the number of elements - mesh
  • export of images and text files that can be used as an input for many calculation programs, including GEB2D

In the second stage of the project we present to you a fully validated solver for frame structures with the following features:

  • standard Timoshenko beam elements, as well as beams on elastic foundation a.k.a. Winkler's bedding
  • arbitrary number of sections and materials
  • shear deformability, self-weight, depth and coefficient of thermal expansion
  • rigid, elastic and inclined constraints
  • foundation settlement, imposed displacements
  • nodal loading in the plane
  • element loading in the plane - point and line loading, temperature difference
  • check of convergence and well-posedness of the equation system (a-priori, in-progress and posteriori)

The GEB2D software is being constantly developed and features are being added. We are looking forward to you feedback, questions and recommendations! A detailed documentation regarding the theoretical background, practical application and validation of the program can be found in GEB2D Documentation.
